30 Days of Me - Day 9

Something I am proud of in the last few days.......well I can't really say I've done anything super productive the last few days.......aside from returning to my job to help them train somebody new as my replacement didn't actually pan out...does that count?  I do really love that place, so I was happy to be able to help them out before heading back to school.  It's probably the best office on the face of planet. 

this is what came up when I looked up proud on weheartit.com.  It made me giggle!...so freaking true though. I am freaking AWESOME!!!

30 Days of Me - Day 8

Short term goals for the month.....wow um I have about 10...well maybe 3
1. Start on craft room!  (IT'S FINALLY GOING TO HAPPEN!!!!!)

2. Stay on top of my homework.  ie. NO PROCRASTINATING....this one is going to slay me...

3. Resume regularly scheduled workouts. 

...hopefully this all pans out!

Fact Friday!

...living without internet is strange. It was frustrating to have to use my stupid phone to look up everything instead of being able to turn to my laptop.

Did you know that 122 countries out of 195 have internet access?  And out of almost 7 billion people there are almost 2 billion internet users.  It's had to believe that there are 5 billion people out there missing out....

30 Days of Me - Day 6

Favorite super hero and why....SHE RA!  Not sure why...but I loved her when I was like 3 and she's kind of stuck around as my favorite ever since. I think it's the fact that she road a pretty Pegasus...I loved horses, especially ones that could fly.  A couple years ago I downloaded the He-Man and She-Ra movie...it was terrible, but I loved every second of it.  It's amazing how far animation has come since the 80's!

30 Days of Me - Day 5

Post a picture of somewhere you have been...Although Brockville isn't the most exciting place I've ever been...this turtle sign is by far my favorite thing encountered while traveling.  Never in my life have I ever seen a road sign for turtle crossings. It's just behind a little subdivision, and I guess because there are wetlands across the street they have a serious turtle problem...they make for terrible hazards while driving...and well it isn't too lovely for the turtles either. 

30 Days of Me - Day 4 (early)

...had to post this one a little early because I know I won't make it to Starbucks tomorrow.  Going to visit some family in the evening, and possibly go out for drinks with my cousin afterwards. 

....anyways...a habit I wish I didn't have.....cracking my neck...I blame dating a chiropractic student for so long (I LOVE my chiro, but don't let students practice on you...it leads to hypermobility)...it looks and sounds disgusting (especially since I have a super flexible neck...) but seriously gets rid of a headache in a jiffy.  I've been working on it since September...IT'S SO HARD TO STOP!!!!!!!!!!!

Some pictures of a bachelorette party for my friend Anne-Marie....there's a balloon string in front of my face, but somehow it just made the picture that much more awesome!

and this is the whole group of us before we left for the bar.  We all made lovely shirts with our "Jersey Shore" nicknames on them...I was 'The Position" aka 'The Single One' aka 'The REAL Bachelorette.' It was quite the night!

30 Days of Me - Day 2

..So the meaning behind my blog name...
This was supposed to be a knitting blog, but well I fail at finished anything I start knitting that takes me more than 1 day....so this blog died a couple times before I finally decided to just make it a general blog.  I really like actual "pearls" so I was trying to think of something cute, and well freshwater purls kind of stuck in my head.  Sadly it's not that exciting....but I still like the name, despite my very few posts about actual knitting.  HOWEVER 2 of my friends just announced that their pregnant, so I might have to get might knit on ASAP to finish some cute things for them...hopefully before their babies are born!

Hello from Brockville

So I'm sitting in a starbucks...the house I'm staying at only has dialup and I have ZERO patience when it comes to slow internet.  I am not the hugest fan of Starbucks...but I'm pretty sure that at least 50% of the population of Brockville, ON have NO idea what internet even is, so I was thankful to find somewhere with free wifi.

Hopefully I'll be able to keep this up, but if there's a gap in posts it's because my lovely Nana has been showing me off to her adorable 80 something friends.

I've been having a lovely relaxing time...and my grandma keeps giving me something of hers every 2 seconds.  She's also promised me some sewing lessons (how to hem pants 101) so I'm super excited!!!

Tomorrow we're going to see Eat Pray Love, I can't WAIT for some delicious popcorn :) We're also going to do some thrifting, and take a walk along the St. Laurence.  Hopefully the weather holds up!

30 Days of Me - Day 1

A recent picture of me was really hard to come by.....I never take pictures of myself, and the only ones people ever get are of me drunk........so this is a picture of my bestest friend Sarah and I...apparently we both sport fantastically white teeth...(my teeth aren't the only thing that's porcelain white...holy reflective skin batman!)

as for 15 random facts......
1. I HATE mushrooms and olives...I've tried to love them but these will forever be on my dislike list...
2. I LOVE chips and popcorn...I could be so full and still finish of a huge bag of salt & vinegar chips
3. I love swings, especially in the middle of the night
4. My friend and I love driving around searching for deer in the middle of the night.
5. If you hadn't already guessed I LOVE THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!
6. I don't like coffee but I drink it anyways for the caffeine...
7. I might secretly like the iPhone better than my BlackBerry...I feel like a traitor
8. I'm scared of bugs and the dark
9. I wish I had a pet bunny...(or Pope...my old pet bunny)
10. I am terrible at finishing any projects I start....
11. I put on rain boots just to jump in puddles
12. I wish I could take better pictures..

Fact Friday!

So this weeks fact is dedicated to my summer job, thanks to my new friend Kristi for thinking this one up (this could only end up being funny for the two of us).  So apparently...as we discovered...the water cooler at said summer job has NEVER EVER in the history of me working there (6 years) has never been cleaned...like ever....and the scary thing is that I used it on a regular basis...EW...Kristi you had better find someone to take care of that now that I'm gone!

Tune Tuesday..on Wednesday - Doin it for a thrill

So this week's song is a bit late because I thought yesterday was still Monday...and realized today that I totally forgot to post!
I LOVE electropop, and La Roux has become one of my favorite new groups.  My friend Greg showed me a pretty decent dubstep remix of this song (I am usually not a huge dubstep fan...but this was really well done), but I couldn't find it on youtube...so you only get the original version (which is my favorite anyways!)

Summer Challenge - Final 3 prompts

So, I'm technically a couple days late with this, and I missed one of the prompts, buuuuuut I have completed the local challenge.  Sadly I don't have many pictures of the last two as the camera on my phone is a piece of POOOOOOP. 

But prompt 4 was to go to a local clothing store and well I do this way too regularly cause I am a shopoholic, but I bought a cute shirt from Divine on Whyte Ave. They have new and vintage everything, plus a little piercing/tattoo shop in the back.  Sadly the shirt shredded in my washing machine...sometimes that's the trouble with old things.  But I got to wear in twice and it was lovely :)
Prompt 5 was to shop at a local market, and I was supposed to go to the Strathcona Farmers Market last weekend with my mother, but we got our wires crossed and that never happened...so I guess I missed this one.

Prompt 6 was to go to a local concert.  And well in the last 3 weeks I have seen 4 shows, all Canadian bands, 2 of which were from Alberta.  Pictures are of Emily Haines of Metric and...some punk band from Fort McMurray and I can't for life remember their name.

Resolutions

This pretty much sums up how I feel about 2010.  This is the first time in a long time I have felt truly happy with everything going on in my life.  The last 2 years have been fully of way too many obstacles and I finally feel like everything has settled, and I can just be myself.  I've finally discovered a place where I can feel totally comfortable in my skin....thanks to my lovely friends for helping me through all the tough stuff, I couldn't have done it without your amazing support! 
In other news, I've followed through on some of my New Years Resolutions! I have been flossing like every night...well almost every night.  I quit smoking February 1st and I'm still going strong...that one is a constant battle though...AND up until August I was working out at least 2 days a week plus going on walks...this month has been a little hectic and my work schedule sucks.  Hoping to get back into the swing on things once school starts.  YAY for me!  This is going to be an amazing decade...I can't wait to see where it leads!

4 Simple Goals

So Elsie over at A Beautiful Mess has initiated a little blog project, and I'm totally excited to join in.  Rules are simple...4 goals to be completed by 2011.  I can always use a little pressure to follow through.
1. Mingle.  I'm super shy when it comes to big crowds, and I'm planning a solo travel next summer, so I really need to work on my people meeting skills....this is going to be SO hard. 
2. Create a craft space. So far crafting happens on my coffee table or on the floor.....I need to establish somewhere a little more inspiring.
3. Play the piano. I really want to learn a new instrument, but I've decided I need to re-learn the piano before I move on.  It's a good base, and I really need help remember scales...EEEK!
4. Follow through. I have a lot of unfinished projects.  Need to make a dent in them.

I'll post about my progress throughout the next few months.

FACT FRIDAY

Did you know today is International Lefthand handers' day?  I'm left handed and this amused me (thanks Kaylah over @ The Dainty Squid for sharing...she's a lefty too!).  I totally thought google was going to let me down on Lefthand images...all it was showing was left handed guitars...but this is like perfection in the google images world...I LOVE FLANDERS

Today is also Friday the 13th....and there are spooky clouds rolling in...and due to lack of sleep followed by too much sleep I am crazy rambling due to crazy overtired hyperness.

p.s I have the best dad in the world because he just brought me a cheeseburger cause I left my lunch @ home. Sometimes it's cool to work with your dad!

Sorry I'm late...having a busy week! Can't wait for tomorrow to come to an end so I can enjoy the Fringe here in Edmonton.  I love summer festivals!  SO much fun!

So, I really just like saying the word fact...and decided to start FACT FRIDAYS :)

Then magically my friend sent me something this morning that will make a perfect beginning fact!

This August has 5 Sundays, 5 Mondays, 5 Tuesday all in one month.  It happens once in 823 years. 

...I wonder if it's equally exciting that December has 5 Wednesdays, 5 Thursday, and 5 Fridays....probably not....
